Post Date: Sep 13 2018

BISMARCK, N.D. – The sixth annual North Dakota Governor's Workforce and Human Resources Conference will be held September 18-20 at the Bismarck Event Center.

"This event is a great opportunity to connect with more than 600 business executives, educators, young professionals and community leaders from across the state to lay the groundwork for continued talent growth in North Dakota," Gov. Doug Burgum said.

The conference will include state and national presenters who will focus on creating actionable workforce strategies. This interactive conference will showcase practical, demand-driven solutions for today's workforce challenges in North Dakota.

The three-day conference will feature several speakers, including corporate trainer Ted Schick, author Neen James and award-winning speaker Ross Bernstein.

New items added to this year’s conference include:
  • Business tours - Get inside four local businesses to see how they are impacting workforce. Shuttle buses will take attendees who have reserved space. Each tour is limited to 50 people.

  • Exhibitor Smart Stage - Interact with exhibitors who will cover specific topics in 20-minute segments. This stage is located in the Exhibitor Showcase.

  • New Track: Association for Talent Development (ATD) Track - Due to the success of the legal and recruiting tracks, we've partnered with the North Dakota Chapter of the Association for Talent Development to create an ATD Track. There are six sessions in that track focusing on training and developing.

  • Working Roundtable on Out-of-State Recruiting - Attracting talent continues to be a struggle for North Dakota businesses. Collaborate with peers on successes and failures you've had in this realm. This concurrent session will be limited to 50 active participants.
Attendees will have an opportunity to network and share best practices throughout the event. The event will feature 54 concurrent sessions covering topics like employee retention and recruitment, succession planning and managing legal issues.

The conference offers 15.25 continuing education credit hours that support both the Society for Human Resource Management and Human Resources Certification Institute certifications.

The conference is hosted by Gov. Burgum, the North Dakota Department of Commerce and the North Dakota SHRM State Council, an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management.
